Diablo passed away on April 22, 2016.  His last resting spot in my front yard so his co-owners can wave to their favorite big boy when they pass,  he will have wild flowers growing soon.  He was such a fun dog.  I have so many memories of laughing at his antics.  The last week (which we had no idea it was his)  he spent with us here so his owners could go see their new grand son, he was so good.  Our big gruff boy wouldn't go outside unless 4 month old Kitty when with him.  He loved having several of the girls turned out with him, his own harem.  He was doing great but after going home took a turn for the worst and didn't eat or drink.  He was telling us his body just didn't work for him any more.  I will always remember running him at hunt tests and on honor he would voice his displeasure when the other dog when to retrieve by giving huge walrus type sounds,  he'd open his mouth and I'd actually see the sound waves coming out.  Everyone would come running to see who was being killed by who.  Hence why he never finished his last two legs.  He was a character.  If he was in a crate in the basement and someone entered the house he would snarl and growl like a Tasmanian devil but if they let him out of the crate he'd start giving them kisses.  I sure wouldn't have let him out but for some reason my kids were never worried about letting out any dogs who stayed here. 

Diablo is in training for his senior hunter title and has two legs toward that title. He lives at home with his family and his new little sister Coco, chasing tennis balls and geese.  I'm sure he's hoping to catch one of those geese someday. He is a very happy, very enthusiastic boy.  He puts 100% into everything that he does and always has a smile on his face.  He's very loving and enjoys being with people.  The first thing everyone says when they meet him is what a beautiful large head he has.

 Junior Hunter Title on October 1, 2005 at the Buckeye Retriever Club hunt test at Hambden, OH.
Two legs toward his Senior Hunter title on Sept 30, Buckeye Retriever Club & Oct. 6 2007 American Chesapeake Club, Hambden Ohio.
